Life Changing Books & Quotations
Sunday October 15, 2006
Read Daily -- Read at least 5 minutes every day! Never miss a day. Become addicted to positive reading. Make uplifting reading a daily, life-changing habit.
Read Positive Material -- Choose material that will inspire, motivate, challenge, inform, and improve you. Avoid all books, magazines, or web sites that promote negativity, immorality, or self-destruction.
Read/Write -- Underline as you read. Circle the good stuff! Make stars or arrows, put exclamation marks or question marks.
Reread/Copy -- Copy your underlined material into a journal and begin your own collection of encouraging quotations to reread regularly.
Read/Live/Apply -- Begin to consistently use ideas and techniques for self-improvement in your daily lifestyle. Live it out and change your life!

The hopeful man sees success where others see failure, sunshine where others see shadows and storm. --Orison Swett Marden | | | |

These are my 9 favorite self-help books (not including the Bible):
1) SELF HELP by Samuel Smiles, published in 1859. Samuel Smiles (real name) was a Scottish doctor who lived in London. Smiles said: "The humblest may say, 'To respect myself, to develop myself--this is my true duty in life.'"
2) PSYCHO CYBERNETICS by Maxwell Maltz, published in 1960. This great book is all about how your mind is designed as a "goal seeking" mechanism and will strive to reach the pictures you give it, whether they are positive or negative.
3) THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING by Norman Vincent Peale, published in 1952. Wonderful instructions on how to use the power of your mind.
4) PUSHING TO THE FRONT by Orison Swett Marden, published in 1911. Marden says: "Oh, what radiance glorifies the faces of those who have overcome temptation and disciplined their powers in striving for self-improvement."
5) TRAINING FOR POWER AND LEADERSHIP by Grenville Kleiser, published in 1923. Kleiser said: "Constantly bear in mind that your thought is the builder of your body, the molder of your character, and the ruler of your destiny."
6) HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE by Dale Carnegie, published in 1936. Carnegie said: "Believe that you will succeed and you will." This book gives outstanding, practical advice on how to effectively work with people.
7) PEP -- POISE - EFFICIENCY - PEACE by Wm. C. Hunter, published in 1914. Hunter said: "Think good, act good, be good, crowd out the bad; the more you feed your brain on good, the surer you are to get good thoughts out of it."
8) UNLIMITED POWER by Anthony Robbins, published in 1986. This is one of the few books that I finished reading and began reading it again immediately.
9) THINK AND GROW RICH--A BLACK CHOICE by Dennis Kimbro, published in 1991. This is a rewrite of the book THINK AND GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill (a great book also). (I also like Dennis because he endorsed my book, MINDROBICS.)
There you have them--the fine nine! These are wonderful books. I love self-help books and have read hundreds of them. They really will make a difference in your life. Read at least 5 minutes from a positive thinking book every day. I pulled together the best self-improvement ideas and advice I've found a few years ago in my book: MINDROBICS: HOW TO BE HAPPY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
