From My Book: MINDROBICS--HOW TO BE HAPPY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

Who you gonna turn to? When you're feeling down? And you need a big lift? Who you gonna call? BLUES BUSTERS!

Blues Busters I: Admit to yourself that you are responsible for the way you feel! You may not can control your circumstances or change whatever misfortune may have befallen you--but you can control your attitude!

So quit the blame game! You, alone, are responsible for how you feel--no one else! And quit complaining! Why? Simple. If you admit, "I caused my blues," then you can fix them. If you say, "He (she, they, it, everybody) caused my blues," then you are hopelessly trapped in your misery--a poor victim of other people and things. So blast your blahs by accepting responsibility!

Blues Busters II: Enumerate your non-financial assets! Go ahead! Actually make a list of what you've got going for you. Maybe you should start with the greatest bargain ever made--life itself! After all, your life was absolutely free.

You may have to think really hard. But you can do it! If you are serious about blues busting (and not just singing a sad song to soak up sympathy) then put at least twenty blessings on your list. Now read the list out loud to yourself twice each day: the first thing each morning and the last thing at night!

Blues Busters III: Help somebody. Dr. Theodore I. Rubin was asked how to overcome depression. He said: "Choose a friend who, at the moment, is in greater emotional need than your are. Dedicate yourself to her for the day, even though in your mood it may take considerable effort. Try to cheer her up. Use your total energy, however depleted you may feel, for her welfare and for making her feel better. This bit of mental hygiene can be quite effective in treating a simple case of the 'blues.'"

Remember, you can blast your blahs with Blues Busters!!! They won't work by themselves, but if you use them, they will change your life.
